I was shocked to hear of Tim Russert's sudden and untimely death today.
How sad.
I'll miss seeing his friendly face on "Meet the Press" Sunday mornings. Before there was Youtube, whenever I slept late and missed the show, I would often stay up until 3 in the morning to see the rerun, because he was one of the few who asked the right questions. Nobody could grill a politician better than he did. What will this election be without him?
Such a loss.
My heart goes out to his family.

Never got into the Sunday chatters. Heard this guy was OK, tho. Not like the rest of those corporate TV puddin' heads who only read talking points, not books.
I think they should fire all of 'em as a cost-cutting measure, and to celebrate the dawn of a New Era in politics. Hire a bunch of good bloggers instead, for five figures, instead of six or seven figures. Make 'em work for their money by researching, writing, and asking tough questions, not propagandizing. Send 'em your resume, D.
Requiescat In Pace, to a fellow NY blue-collar Irish Catholic liberal Democratic boomer.
.
Yeah, Tim was a good soul, a salt-of-the-earth kinda guy, who believed in the working man and treated his profession as a sacred trust.
You have much in common I see.
The system doesn't normally allow for the high standard of journalism Tim Russert practiced. There are a few, Bill Moyers comes to mind, and more are developing in the blogosphere to give the ME a run for their money.
Getting paid for blogging would be nice. Sure would save a lot of money on gas ;)
