The woman who called for Obama's assassination. On freakin' TV!!!

Hillary is a dangerous woman. She stirs up latent psychosis in people and embolden's surrogates, like Liz Trotta, to help her spread the idea of "knocking off Obama," in the hopes it will reach the ears of some white racist nutcase.

Then Liz can give a smarmy apology and Hillary can use the trick of "plausible deniability" to say "I was just talking about the timeline!"

Sometimes I wonder if Hillary doesn't realize how transparent her motives are, or if she's just too desperate to give a damn.

Today the Obama campaign said: "The issue is done. No comment" when asked again about Hillary's RFK statement.

I think that's a wise response. Anything you say only fuels the fire and distracts from the campaign and the issues that really matter.

The Obama campaign and the party have apparently decided to focus on beating MCcain in the general election. I think we'll see them ignore Hillary's comments from now on. She can say what she wants, do what she wants, if she insists on hanging on until the convention, fine, so be it, but "the show must go on!"

This isn't the first "joking" or speculative call, warning or prediction of an attempt on Obama's life. I think it's "Plan B" for the corporatists, including Billary. If the Secret Service doesn't crack down hard now, it will become a common meme in this campaign.

If the rest of us don't make it clear that there will be no sad complacency after another political assassination that throws this country off course again, I'm afraid the bullet will always defeat the ballot. In order to avoid becoming a complete banana republic, there has to be the possibility of an outright uprising if this happens again.

The question is, how much are Americans willing to sacrifice for their democracy? The right wing has to believe that murder won't work for them any more, and it will cost them everything.

Hi there Dave :)

I've enjoyed having "Alien Intelligencer" on the blogroll so that I could check in and see what you're up to.

But change is in the air and it's nice to see you branch out your talents to a new site.

I've blogrolled Re/Creating Tampa, and will be keeping tabs on you :)

Cheers!

Cosa, there won't be another political assassination.

Not this time.

Things have changed since the old days when these conspiracies could be carried out with the necessary secrecy, while the whole country was asleep and had little access to information.

Hillary's calculated "misspeaks" are all too transparant. With the whole world watching this campaign, everyone can see her dirty tactics for what they are.

Will the Republicans try something sinister? They may be ornery but they're not dumb.

Times have changed. There is the sense of a shift in the national zeitgeist. I think everyone is feeling it. The tide is blowing in a new direction and it's too powerful for them to overcome.

Sure there may still be racists who are psycho enough to try something really evil, but I believe they wouldn't get far. Security is tight and too many people are on the alert.

I'm not worried.

I couldn't have said it better:

"The original meaning of the phrase "We shall overcome" is too often forgotten. The words didn't mean: "We--black and white people--will win equal rights for black people." They meant rather: "We--human beings--will overcome our savage impulse to settle our differences by violence. In both domestic and foreign arenas of dispute, we will overcome our endless reliance on short-violent-cuts to success."

I hope you're right, Diana.

But the fact is, we still don't know the whole story of 9/11, and that happened ON tv. The corporate media were all too happy to get all their info from the Bushies, and still are today, pretty much.

Nobody can guarantee anyone's safety 100%, least of all the Secret Service. When known nut jobs like Lee Harvey Oswald, Squeaky Fromm, Sara Jane Moore and Mark David Chapman can get close enough to put a bullet in the President of the United States, I'd say that nobody is immune to assassination.

I don't think the Pukes & Hillbots will do it themselves. But they have certainly put the old meme out there. Given the fact that Obama is likely to become our first black President (if he isn't shot first), and that much of his opposition is violent, ignorant, gun-toting racist rednecks, I'd say it's a real danger. This is the "hard-working white (trash) man's" last stand, in their minds.

But I think the real motive for Billary, Fuxsnooze, Huckabee et al is to try and convince people that a vote for Obama is a wasted vote, since he's likely to be killed anyway. That's the real message. The real motive is a desperate last-ditch attempt to get Billary on the ticket. There just isn't any other logical reason that I can see.

Agreed, nobody can guarantee anybody's safety 100%. The danger is real. As is the desperation. Just the thought of "The White Man's Last Stand" sends a chill up my spine.

This beast ain't going down without a bloody fight to the death.

But who do you think will ultimately win this fight?

There has been a dark cloud over the spirit of this nation ever since JFK, MLK, and BFK were assassinated. Killed in cold blood, right before our eyes. What a horror! But I believe in my heart that we have come to that junction in this tragic history to try to heal those wounds. A sizable number of people in this country now understand that we can no longer afford to indulge ourselves in old fears, resentments, and bitterness. We just can't sit there licking these ol' wounds forever without ever trying to heal.

I see that contrasts exist for a reason. They help us see the differences more clearly, and thus help us make a "reasoned" judgement. The Founders were men of reason and this is like the re-birth of democracy they envisioned. It is a leap in the evolution of the "More Perfect Union" Obama talked about in his "race" speech.

Obama has issued a call for people to have the audacity to hope that this time it -can- be different. The hope that history does not always repeat itself -- sometimes there is a clean break from the past. History teaches that too.

I understand the dangers, Cosa. I just -hope- with all my heart that this time it will be different.

Dubya had the perfect security plan: Kill me, and Cheney is STILL in charge!

In other words, it doesn't matter. That's the message Obama has to put out there: If you kill me there are three hundred million other Americans who will stay the course, starting with my right-hand man/ woman [insert name here].

The only way things can be different this time is if we refuse to accept that our history depends upon one man. We will not allow our cause to die with any assassins' bullets this time. We will pick up the bloody flag and carry on the battle, again and again and again and again.

Nothing can stop us because there are too many of us. It doesn't depend upon Obama, it depends upon all of us. If we abandon him, and go back home after he wins, he might as well be dead, because the cause is dead, without us.

You can't kill all of us. That's the message. I am Barack Obama. You are Barack Obama. We are all Barack Obama. And we always will be. This time, we will not be stopped. It's us that matters, our participation, not just Obama's. Obama is not just a man, representing a Party. He is a representative of an idea that we will never stop fighting for. You can kill a man. You cannot kill an idea.
