Key Points:
Clinton is expected to have raised about $20 million in March, but her campaign has not announced any totals.
Obama raised a record $55 million in February; Clinton raised $34.5 million.
Clinton fundraisers say she relied too much on large donors early in the cycle.
"That pool is reduced," said Larry Stone, a Clinton fundraiser in Silicon Valley who also is the Santa Clara County assessor. "Hillary came really late to the game in effective fundraising on the Internet as compared to Barack Obama ... Many of the solid enthusiastic Clinton supporters were maxed out."
Clinton said as first lady she had forcefully battled the agreement President Clinton labored hard to win."I did speak out and oppose NAFTA," she said. "I raised a big yellow flag and said, 'I don't think this will work.'"
Teamsters president James P. Hoffa, who is backing Obama, disputed her claim.
"No one who was around in the time of NAFTA remembers her doing that," Hoffa told The Associated Press during a telephone interview. "Let's face it, she's tied to NAFTA no matter what she says."
Will she also make the claim she spoke out against the sanctions on Iraq that killed 500,00 children? Why has no one in the media asked her about this?

Earth to Billary:
"It's time to go."
.
PS
Petraeus, you too. And take Dick'n'Dubya with ya.
.
Hi Cosa :)
She won't go with grace, so she'll go in disgrace.
Her choice.
.
It's kinda sad that the first woman who could have been President, if only through her connection to Slick Willie, was ultimately defeated by him, or his tactics & politics. But it sucks how those two have once again soured many bright hopes.
I hope all the new voters can hold on to their enthusiasm. The Billary irony would be all too tragic if they only succeeded in driving that historically non-participating 60% out of the process. Only McCain would benefit. He should name the Billaries ambassadors to separate countries if he wins, out of gratitude. Bosnia and Columbia, maybe...
It's interesting that Obama & Co. have failed to majorly embarrass themselves, despite the media's best efforts; while Bill & Hill just can't seem to stop embarrassing their very own selves, almost daily. It's like the 90s all over again. Hey, lets not do that again, hm?
I have confidence in my old neighbors in the Keystone State. If they decide not to give the Clintons a clear victory, that could finish them. They'd have a helluva time raising the big bucks if they don't kill in PA. And big corporate money is what they're all about.
.
I think the reason the Clintons want back into the White House is to make sweetheart deals with dictators and billionaires. $109 million isn't enough for them, they want to join the billionaires club.
Arianna Huffington has an excellent expose on the Clinton-Columbia connection. Have you seen it?

I'm sorry to say this doesn't surprise me, Diana. I have friends here in Hawaii who were born & raised in Columbia in the 70s, 80s & 90s. They tell some hair-raising stories from their own childhood, of chaos and corruption, quotidian murder in the street, constant fear and gradual dehumanization which marked them for life. Clinton & the Bushes have armed all three sides in the ongoing drug wars in Columbia.
It's all about the insatiable American market for drugs, oil, bananas, whatever. Every bit of misery anywhere in Latin America is the direct responsibility of the United States. From the Monroe Doctrine to the Rockefeller mandate, our real-life Daniel Plainviews have treated South and Central America as a poor patch of our own territory, inexplicably populated by human beings we regard and deal with as if they were nothing but cockroaches infesting our property. The Clintons know this instinctively, and from years of sucking up to raw power and wealth from Sam Walton and John Tyson to BCCI and Enron. In effect, they are indistinguishable from the corporatist filth on the Republican side.
If there really are sides, any more. So much for the "Third Way." It's really the same old shit, pared of all pretense to political and ideological, moral and ethical values. The Clintons have never represented anything but greed and lust for power. Once they've got power, all they do is enrich their supporters, and feather their own future nests. The Clinton legacy comes down to not one single program of any benefit to any ordinary American. In retrospect, I wonder if Hillary's 1990s ham-handed health care reform wasn't deliberate sabotage by her of our last hope for real free national universal medical care from cradle to grave, like the civilized countries have. Anybody check her list of donors lately?
At one point, I actually thought of voting for Clinton. Anybody but Bushco. But with each passing day, the Clintons reveal more of what's really inside them, and what they plan for all of us, in reality: Nothing.
If we fail to take control of our polity this time, we'll simply have to try harder next time. Despite the filth at the top, our country is worth any effort to save it. It may just take a lot more hard work, and stronger stomachs. I don't look forward to the next few months of wild flailing by the desperate Clintonians. It demeans us all. But we should view it as an object lesson: This is how hard the parasite that has infested our body politic will fight to hold on. We have to be merciless, and bite the bullet in cutting it out of our own living tissue.
.
Wow, thank you for that very erudite post. It was a pleasure to read.
I could not agree more with your well-informed assessment of the Clintons and the general state of corruption they, and their ilk, have thrived in.
On the bright side, the fact that all this is coming to light is part of the cure to what ails us. I see this as a purging of the body politic, a kind of cleansing of the mind, spirit, and soul of this nation that has been long overdue.
In a way it's good that Hillary is clinging on with such desperation. The Clintons have operated in secret, all these years they've done their dirty deeds shrouded from public scrutiny, yet the longer they stay in the race, the more they reveal their true character and intentions. They think time is on their side, they hope that if they drag this out to the convention, somewhere along the way the slime they throw at Obama will stick, but this strategy is clearly backfiring. Obama, by his very presence in the race, is the catalyst that forces them into the light, and it is the Light that will destroy them.
Cherish the light! :)

Thanks, Diana, and thanks for letting me vent on your excellent site. It's good to know that there are people out there who get it, who pay attention, who care about what is done in their names, with their votes and their tax dollars.
The deliberate destruction of our system of public education, and the endless anti-intellectual drone of our media and, ironically, our intellectual elite, leave the way open for constant political appeals to raw anger, fear, hatred and prejudice in a population that just can't understand what's going on, or how they are being manipulated, against their own interests.
Obama was spot-on when he talked about bitterness, and clinging to guns & religion. He should not back down on that. He should stop acting like Kerry and Gore and Dukakis and Mondale, and quit apologizing or equivocating or standing aloof when he is attacked. He should come out with guns blazing, as he finally did on race and Rev. Wright.
His campaign is too gingerly and too slow to slap these attacks back. He should be prepared to be attacked on everything, and have offensives planned in response that can be deployed instantaneously. The minute you let the enemy define you, and control the debate, you start losing.
Obama should be all over PA with the truth about the Clintons and Walmart, NAFTA, and their complete failure as "champions of the working class." He should call them what they are: Superannuated power-hungry yuppies whose only interest in those they regard as "lower-class" is in getting their votes, and then screwing them. Just like the Bushes.
On the bright side, there's buzz that Carter and Gore may join forces to get Billary to stop tearing apart this big, beautiful new Party. If I were them, I'd get Obama to agree to make Bill and Hill presidents of the IMF and the World Bank, or maybe the WTO and the USAID. That's the sort of thing they're really interested in anyway: Money. Maybe the Trilateral Commission is hiring.
As to the media and their lack of focus on the minutia of the white folks' lives in this race, imagine if Obama had said or done this; Obama, mind you, not just some guy who knows him:
MCCAIN TURNED ON TO GAY AUTHOR BY TEEN CRUSH

.
I'm sure you saw the debate, if you can call it that, last night on ABC. 45 minutes of rehashing tabloid attacks on Obama before asking any substantive questions. What a crock. Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos are getting the backlash they deserve, and so is Hillary.
I think we all would like for Obama to rip into Billary and all of his rightwing and media detractors, but I think he is wisely restraining himself and staying above the fray. Notice how every time Hillary attacks Obama, she falls in the polls, while his approval ratings keep rising. If he were to go on the attack and respond in kind he would lose the argument he's been making against the old political machine attacks. Hillary is taking herself down. He doesn't have to lift a finger. That's the beauty of taking the high road. More importantly, he's proving to people that it works.
I know it's frustrating to see the attack dogs go at it and seemingly get the upper hand, but they won't prevail. "Not this time." For him to give Hillary a pass on Bosnia, as he did, was both frustrating but also inspiring, because he shows such grace under pressure.
The man has class. He's a winner and everybody knows it. The Status quo must be quivering in fear because they know their end is near.
Turning to a more mundane subject. I don't know if you've noticed the spam on this post. I'm tired of deleting, so I'm closing it to comments. If you'd like to continue this convo please use the post above.
Cheers :)
